From Business to the Trades: Jaime Smith’s Journey
The story of Alchemy Plumbing begins with our founder, Jaime Smith. With an MBA in Finance Operations from Pepperdine University, Jaime spent years excelling in the corporate world. But at the age of 41, he decided to rewrite his narrative. He walked away from a successful career in finance and dove headfirst into the trades – starting as a plumbing apprentice.
For Jaime, this wasn’t just a career change; it was a calling. He saw a gap in the industry and envisioned a plumbing company that valued quality, professionalism, and innovation while fostering an incredible team culture. Before picking up his first wrench, Jaime wrote the business plan for Alchemy Plumbing, laying the groundwork for what would become a transformative force in the plumbing industry.
The Alchemy Army Takes Shape
Alchemy Plumbing officially began on October 19, 2022, with the delivery of our first truck. Since then, we’ve grown into a team we proudly call the “Alchemy Army.” From journeyman plumbers to apprentices and support staff, our people are at the heart of everything we do.
Our vans, a dynamic extension of our brand, have become one of our greatest marketing tools. They’re impossible to miss – and that’s intentional. We wanted a visual identity that reflects our approach: bold, modern, and unafraid to stand out. People often point them out, and we’re thrilled they’ve become an iconic part of our story.

Recently, we received our Emerging Small Business (ESB) certification, positioning us to expand into new markets and trades.
